Abstrak Kajian


This qualitative study aims to explore the psychological impact among the victim of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in Malaysia with abusive childhood experience. The themes of this study were developed through thematic analysis after interviews and data transcribing were completed. Themes emerged on the psychological impact of the abusive victims are mental health deterioration and dysfunction social belief. Despite the psychological impact from the abusive treatment, new theme emerge as the reasoning of the victims stay with the violent partner are due to their personal beliefs that related with social, religious and culturally basis. Other than that, future studies also can emphasize male victims of domestic violence. This is due to the difficulty of obtaining male informant and the limited number of study that can be conducted utilizing male samples.
