Abstrak Kajian
Generally, this study is about Malay community living in Baling, Kedah which is the beneficiaries of Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat Daerah Baling. This study comprised of two research of the current socioeconomic status of beneficiaries of PKMD? What are the factors of poverty retention of beneficiaries of PKMD? The objective of this study the background of Baling district and Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat Daerah Baling, socioeconomic analyzes PKMD beneficiaries and also analyzes the factors of poverty client retention PKMD recipients. The conceptual framework for this study is the theory of Violent Poverty Circulation (The Cycle of Poverty). This theory looks at how the poverty afflicting beneficiaries passed over from one generation to the next. The methodology used in this study is a quantitative questionnaire and informal interviews. The study found that the client is facing poverty due to several factors such as employment; education, client’s attitude, and the client’s health that cause them to live in poverty. In addition, the majority of beneficiaries also never received proper education that lead to difficulties in finding a good job, therefore they only work in the lower levels which is in low income which is hard to improve the condition and their standard of living. This study also conducted to see a client facing poverty recipients causing Baling district listed in the statistics of poverty in which is the second highest regional poverty problems among the counties that are in Kedah Darul Aman.
